Rebecca and Julia

Rule #1 if you use Sarah Elaine Photography-TAKE MY KEYS AWAY FROM ME. For the second time within a couple of weeks, I locked my keys in my car. Fortunately Rebecca is one of the coolest people ever and she wasn't too bothered about it. At least she was quiet about it if she was. :)

Rebecca brought her daughter Julia along on the shoot and she's just so cute I couldn't help taking a ton of photos of her too. She was very energetic and kept us very entertained by dancing, telling stories and even making us 'salads' out of grass. Yum!

Julia is very excited to meet her baby brother! Fortunately she doesn't have much longer to wait!

While sitting on Ward Parkway waiting for a locksmith to show up, Rebecca and Julia showed me some of the yoga poses they do together. It made for lovely photos!

This photo of Rebecca on a bench is my favorite of the day. I love her smile in this one!

Congrats to Rebecca and I can't wait to meet baby Luke!

Amanda & Josh

Since Amanda has been one of my best friends for many years, I was both delighted and honored when she asked me to take her engagment photos. She allowed me to choose the location for the shoot and I chose The Bottoms, which is one of the more urban and industrial parts of Kansas City. It turned out to be a great choice! The brick walls, street signs and graffiti provided a unique and colorful backdrop for these engagement photos.

Amanda and Josh met online and have been together for two years. Josh proposed on their two-year anniversary and they will be getting married in May of next year. The two of them go together perfectly and their happiness together is very obvious in the photos!

Amanda chose a non-traditional engagement ring that holds special meaning for her. It's a peridot, which not only is her birthstone but also signifies positivity and light. And as a Lord of the Rings fan, she also likes the Elven look to it. It's a beautiful ring and it looks gorgeous on her hand!

My favorite photo from the day is this one of the two of them walking away from me. I love how comfortable they look together as they're talking and in my opinion it conveys a sense of walking into the future. Plus those wings on the back of Josh's shirt are just awesome. ;)

Congrats Josh and Amanda!

Rylee

Tonight I met with Rylee for his senior portrait session. He and his family chose to take his portraits at their home--they have a huge yard with a lovely fence and a small pond. I always love taking photos at someone's home. It definitely gives the photos more of a unique aspect.

Rylee is a cowboy and a golfer, so we options for a lot of great photos. Though all of his photos were great, the ones in his cowboy gear are by far my favorites.

Also present at the photo session were Nick and Libby, two of the cutest little dogs I've ever seen. And very photogenic! I was amazed at well-behaved they were. My dog is a bad dog, so I'm not used to quiet, still dogs! ;)

I ended the evening with Rylee by locking my keys in my car. Something I do far too often! Rylee and his parents were very good sports about it and did all they could do help me retrieve my keys. I'll have to give them some free portraits just for putting up with me!

This last photo is my favorite photo from Rylee's session. I've been told it looks like an album cover. What do you think?

Collin

Collin is another favorite photography subject. I've known Collin since he was born (he's now 5) and he's always been fun to photograph. It takes a lot of energy to keep up with him!

These photos were taken at the Watkins Woolen Mill State Park, which is really lovely. There are tons of trees, fields and trails which are perfect for pictures. There's also an old schoolhouse and church which are fun as well.

It was hot and buggy today, but we still had a good time. Collin had a lot of fun rolling around in the grass and leaves and then ended the afternoon by performing a hoedown on a little wooden stage.

My favorite photo of the day was taken at Collin's grandparents backyard. He went running through the grass pretending to be an airplane and I snapped a quick shot. Isn't it gorgeous?

Milton P. Mugglesworth

My little dog Muggle is by far my favorite subject to photograph. Look at that sweet little face!

For all of Muggle's three years, he's had a camera in his face. He definitely knows the camera and now he even gets excited when the camera comes out. He wants to be the center of attention!

I love those little paws...
